Details for my favorite race of the year have been posted on the Monstertrack Website.
There’s going to be tons of people racing this year and there will definitely be a few guys from Albany heading down.
Here is the video from last year, Schil filming, and Gavin and I riding with a bunch of NYC dudes.
Also, check out my Monstertrack X Racer Profile from last year, courtesey of Michael Green of BikeBlogNYC.
How awesome is that. It saves them a ton of money and packages are less likely to be destroyed. How do people not know that this extends past UPS into everyday life, for everyone?!

Awesome to see this kind of coverage over an illicit, illegal event. For those who don’t know, in this race, the racers pick up groceries at various grocery stores and at then end of the race all of it gets donated to charity. They raised a ton of food for charity, and the manifest and layout of their race is second to none. I’m super bummed I missed the Albany Cranksgiving, it’s my favorite race of the year. Here was their manifest:

Bring money. You go around to various grocery stores and purchase food, which all gets donated to the Homeless Action Committee.

Just got a few more details:
i can’t give away too many details other than the course has been set and includes many of the available short/steep climbs around hudson, and that there are numerous check points throughout to keep it fun and exciting. registration is at four and race begins at five. it’s a points race, and points are awarded according to completion of tasks at each cp, as well as points for place finish, and for those who wear costumes and a helmet. bring a backpack, lock, and light. although it will still be light during most of the race, there is one section that is not well lit and later in the course, which might make it hard to see. besides, cars like lights, too.hudson boat launch is located at the end of warren street, take a left on s. front, then a quick right over the train bridge, across from allen st./halfmoon saloon.

So…I guess this means we’ve been officially challenged? It’s the day before the Saratoga Cross Race, so you can get your last minute training ride in.
Sponsored by Craigslist. No, but seriously there are good deals to be found if you know what to look for. If you have questions, email them!
NASHBAR TOURE M/T – $175 (clifton park)
Good looking tourer. Nashbar makes decent house branded stuff. Worth it if you need a touring bike, and it fits you.
Mountain Bike – $50
Under this awfully titled ad is a Bridgestone MB5. It’s the worst Bridgestone Mountain Bike, but is still much better than most crap that’s out there. Great commuter or around town bike.
Thule hitching post bike rack – $75 (Watervliet, NY)
Not a bike, but Thule makes good stuff. Well worth it.
PANASONIC 58cm road bike w/ 105 – $345 (Albany/Troy)
Great deal for a tall person. Awesome older bike with great parts.

George di Piro again repping the cyclists. Check out his great post over on the Times Union website.
