The Albany original classic alleycat!

As always, we shall be ending at my favorite little corner bar with cheap eats and plentiful beer.

There will be art! Scene kids! Drunk trashy people! Bike cops on poorly fit rebadges! Math! A great carrying of things! And some of the finest tarmac in the city of Albany. Ride any uni or bike or trike you like; as long as it’s got wheels and pedals and is you-powered, it’s all good. You will not be turned away for excess spandex or your lack of white belts.

Entry fee gets you a neato handmade spoke card and a shot at being the baddest ass in the Capital Region, along with a go at woofty bikey prizes.

Pre-registration via email to soze@fork-bomb.com is encouraged for planning purposes. Dear god help me make a better guess at how many of these damn cards I gotta make.

PS - please don’t get me arrested.

If you’re interested in getting some of these let me know. The Troy Bike Resuce ones are 1×11 and are about $5 a piece. The smaller Bike Albany ones are $2 and .5 by 5. These are relatively expensive since they’re die cut. There is no backing to the sticker so they look super clean when they’re on whatever it is you put them on.

Let me know if youre interested to gauge the magnitude of the next order.

The NYCROSS Cross Clinic was yesterday. Alec Donahue from Joe’s Garage was the instructor. An amazing cross rider who it is actually easy to identify with. It was not intimidating at all to talk to him or ask questions. At one point he noticed I had my remount in two motions rather than one, and gave me tips on how to do this more fluidly (is that even a word?), and it didn’t make me feel like I was ‘wrong’ with the way I was doing it, just that he was helping me do it better. Really great guy.

We went over the basics from getting on, off, runups, to the more advanced tools such as shouldering techniques, getting through barriers, cornering tactics as well as bike handling. Alec was super knowledgeable about seriously everything and gave amazingly detailed answers about everything anyone had a question about.

I was debating getting a book on cross to help me out since I’m super new to this whole thing, but for cheaper than any of the books I was looking at I feel like I got a much better value out of this clinic. Hands on demonstrations as well as advice is way nicer than words on a page.
