Hydrant Hysteria Results 3.27.09

All in all I had a great time. Fun race and the weather couldn’t have been better.
Tom Lusardi’s saddle fell off his bike and he finished on his fixed gear which is hilarious.
Also, Rohan’s name is spelled wrong. Sorry that you thought it was correct your whole life.
Many people have seen me and my pink tallbike.
Googling my name returns few results for anything else.
As the weather recently began getting warmer, I get excited to ride one of my other 5 bikes, other than my daily driver (which is an iro angus fixed gear). I like riding my tallbike since its fun, unique and I don’t really need to worry about locking it up when I’m in class. Its probably the most well known and easiest seen bikes in Albany.
However, in a stint of overconfidence, I left it out on my porch locked for a few days. I needed my lock for something so I took it off my tallbike and went on my way. I never relocked the tallbike and it stayed on my porch for at least another five days. Apparently it got ripped off on March 21st. A band me and all my housemates like was playing that night and they went over to Brew Crew to get a keg for the after party, and a few of the dudes from there had told my housemates tehy saw someone on my bike. I didn’t even notice it was missing at this point.
Whatever, I was just going to make a new one as I’m sure it got ditched. Who can seriously ride that thing around for more than ten seconds and pretend like no one will see it?
Fastforward to Wednesday night at Troy Bike Rescue (the one in Albany, @ 15 Trinity Place). I get a phone call from APD asking me to report the bike stolen since people have been calling in saying they’ve read on All Over Albany and The Times Union that my bike was missing, and they’ve seen it. So I reported it stolen.
Then today, I get a voicemail from APD saying they’ve got it. Apparently it got stolen by a Blood, and had been painted red to match.
Two cans pink spraypaint, coming right up.

This was part of the route that Eric S, Gavin and I took, aslong with some NYC natives. Gavin in Orange, me in Red.
The helmet cam wasn’t so hot in the dark, so that part is missing. I got 25th, Gavin 19th, and Eric took that sweet video. The next night, I got into the semi-finals for Gold Sprints which was unexpected.

I can’t wait to start racing the Albany Alleycats again!

What are the most popular destinations for bicyclists?
This is your chance to make a difference! Check out the flier above for more details.
I’m looking to do a series of photographs of friends and acquaintances bikes.
This is where you come in: I need your bike to take pictures of! I know that it will be slow in the beginning since it’s still freezing out, but by the time the alleycats start up I’d love to get this in motion.
If you want to meet up, schedule a time, ask questions either leave a comment here or text me and we can work something out.
edit: As Lorenz reminded me, I’m looking for ALL types of bikes, nothing in particular.
Buy yourself history! One of Sheldon Brown’s bike is listed on eBay. I wish I was in the position to bid a ton for this.
As well as having the only french crank pullers of any shop within 50 miles of Albany, we are now proud owners of Shimano “Boss” Selecta 12 Spline 20mm OD bottom bracket removal tool.
