Alleycat in Hudson: Part 2

Posted by Andrew on Monday, October 12, 2009 · 2 Comments

Just got a few more details:

i can’t give away too many details other than the course has been set and includes many of the available short/steep climbs around hudson, and that there are numerous check points throughout to keep it fun and exciting.  registration is at four and race begins at five.  it’s a points race, and points are awarded according to completion of tasks at each cp, as well as points for place finish, and for those who wear costumes and a helmet.  bring a backpack, lock, and light.  although it will still be light during most of the race, there is one section that is not well lit and later in the course, which might make it hard to see.  besides, cars like lights, too.hudson boat launch is located at the end of warren street, take a left on s. front, then a quick right over the train bridge, across from allen st./halfmoon saloon.

Hello, I;m one of the co-conspirators for this event.  It’s going to be aprox. 9 miles, Two decent hills, we are trying to include the casuale rider from around town as well as the more committed racer.   hopefully we can get you cat’s interested in future events because I know we can kick your ass

So…I guess this means we’ve been officially challenged? It’s the day before the Saratoga Cross Race, so you can get your last minute training ride in.

    co-conspirator number two here…..
aside from all that has been mentioned above and below, there’s a $10 reg. for the race which will function as a 50/50 prize, as well as be used to promote future cycling events here in hudson. our attempt is to create a more bicycle-friendly network throughout the city and county by sponsoring rides, swaps, repair classes, etc. we are also attempting to build a bike co-op so as to rescue unwanted bikes and make them available for reuse. and beyond all that, this race is gonna be fun. there are thirteen checkpoints throughout, and although the course itself may be fast, some of the cp’s will definately slow you down….again, backpack/lock(rec’d)/light(rec’d). costume gets you points, and prize money gets you drunk…..oh, and there are other prizes available as well.

ATTENTION: just to be clear on an otherwise cloudy outlook, today’s race in hudson will continue rain or shine, whether it be cats/dogs, hail/fire and brimstone.

registration begins at four o’clock past noon and race begins at five from the hudson city boat launch. email for questions/directions.
